Top 10 Songs of ’09

This is pretty insane to try to do, but there are some challenges that I find fun.
Actually, I love doing Top 10 lists.
But in order to ever finish this one, I did have to make a couple rules for myself…
Rule #1 – Every song has to come from a different album.
Rule #2 – Every song must be from a 2009 album.
Rule #3 – These songs will not be listed in any particular order of favor.

*Avett Brothers - I and Love and You – “Kick Drum Heart” – This album is my favorite of the year… so hard to only pick one song. My favorite song changes every day with this album.

*The Forecast - Alive for the First Time EP – “A Better Man”- The Forecast and The Wedding’s next albums are my most anticipated of ’010.

*Switchfoot – Hello Hurricane – “Hello Hurricane” – Best Switchfoot album yet, and that is hard to do.

*Matt and Kim – Grand – “Daylight” – I would love to see these guys live. So much energy and fun. You have to smile.

*The Sounds – Crossing the Rubicon – “Home is Where Your Heart Is” – They take me back to the ’80′s. You can’t help but dance.

*Weezer – Raditude – “Put Me Back Together” – This album was a little disappointing in my opinion, but I will forever love Weezer.

*A Day to Remember – Homesick – “Downfall of Us All” – A Day to Remember has just the right amount of hardcore and pop.

*Karen O. and the Kids – Where the Wild Things Are Soundtrack – “Worried Shoes” – This is my favorite movie of ’09. This cover of Daniel Johnston’s song is perfect.

*Hotel Spangler – Dead and Done – “Blood on My Hands” – Matt Shelton of The Wedding is so raw and honest in this solo album.

*Fiction Family - Fiction Family – “Resurrect Me” – Jon Foreman continues to impress in this collaboration with Sean Watkins of Nickel Creek.

*Most of these songs I was able to add to the  playlist on the left  if you would like to hear them. I also threw in some other favorites from this year. There is so much good stuff out there. What are your favorites of ’09? Don’t be scared. I know you want to share.
