Stuff Christians Like

In the next few weeks I am going to be highlighting some of my favorite blogs. Some you may already know about, but others might be new to you. I thought it would be cool to give these blogs some of the credit they deserve.

Today’s shout-out goes to Stuff Christians Like by Jonathan Acuff.

A couple months ago I came across Jonathan Acuff through an ad in Relevant Magazine for his book with the same title, Stuff Christians Like. The illustrations had me at first glance. They are perfect, and I wish there were more. The book came out last week. I’ve read the first couple chapters. So far, it’s a great book. It’s a perfect mix of sarcasm and serious thinking – just like his blog. You’ve got to be a deep thinker to write about stuff the way Acuff does. I love his honesty about how weird Christians can be. We are like a bunch of Trekkies but the Jesus following kind. But Acuff includes himself in that weird bunch. He doesn’t rub me as being better than everyone else. He talks about a lot of stuff that probably every Christian has wondered at one time or another but maybe didn’t feel like they could talk about it, and he does it in a funny and non-threatening way. I love that.

Right now you can download Stuff Christians Like on audiobook for free from christianaudio.com. You won’t get the illustrations. But hey. It’s free!

I will leave you with a really funny Chick-fil-A tribute video he posted today on his blog. I love Chick-fil-A, but not as much as these guys. Read Acuff’s take here.
