New York – Day 1 – Manhattan

Wednesday, December 22nd, 2010. Filed under: christmas new york

Today is Friday, December 17th. Lisa and Paul are working today so we go with Paul to work in the morning.
It’s about 8:30 and a 15 minute walk to the DeKalb Avenue subway.

We get off at Rector Street. Paul works right across from the NY Stock Exchange.

First on our list is to catch the Staten Island Ferry for a free ride and photo of Lady Liberty.

Free Cruise

“This Arm Don’t Tire”
My new patriotic T-shirt slogan.

A couple cool Canadians took our picture for us.

Brooklyn Bridge

New Jersey on the left and Manhattan Financial District on the right where we just came from.

Catching the train back to Rector Street. “Wrecked ‘er ?!?!? Darn near killed ‘er!”

Trinity Church. Super cool building.
“His Highness Prince Phillip stood somewhere near this place.”
Who cares.

Beautiful insides.

Performed Andrew W.K.’s “I Love NYC” on the pipe organ

This is a view of the graveyard behind St. Paul’s with the World Trade Center Memorial
being built beyond the trees.

A picture of a picture.
This is what the finished Memorial buildings will look like. Amazing.

A scale model of the new area being built. The 2 Footprints of Light are those areas in the middle.
Melanie and I shed some tears in this Memorial area right next to Ground Zero.
It’s a totally different feeling when you actually see this place.
We’ll never think of 9/11 the same way.

St. Patrick’s

Incredible and Majestic

Not so much.

Lunch on the street side. Gyros and Falafel.
And then a second Gyro.

Kind of Cute

Kind of Creepy

Run for your lives!

Nintendo World Store

This Game Boy was damaged in the Gulf War. It still works.

Autographed Jordan artwork at the NBA Store.

There were many of these. Only $2000 each. Maybe next time.

Rockefeller Plaza and The Tree. It’s way better at night.
Just wait. It’s coming.
