The Shack

I finally read this book, The Shack. I had avoided the book because all I really heard about it was that it’s a made up story about this guy Mack who went to a shack to talk to God about his daughter’s death. And God the Father was an African woman.
It sounded pretty dumb to me.
Maybe even heretical.
So, I didn’t want to waste my time.
But knowing a little something about a book that has over 7 million copies in print isn’t such a bad idea. People are obviously interested in this story so why not join in the conversation and see what people think is so great about it?
I was going to write my own review, but then I came across this review here.
It’s way more detailed than something I would write, but I thought it was a great review. And this book definitely deserves that.
*I found another review I would like to add here as well. Go here.

It’s a good review, and lengthy. I agree completely with this statement by the author of the review: “if the book were revised to make it conform more closely to Scripture, God would be more honored by it.” It is every Christian author’s responsibility to write that which most honors God, according to his calling on their life.
Yes. That is a really good point.
